About Tom
During his racing career Tom was recognised as one of Australia’s most promising young drivers with an impressive record in both karting and formula ford including national, state and international championships.
Tom started racing karts at age 10 in the rookie class quickly progressing through the junior classes winning national & state championships on dirt & bitumen before moving in to the senior ranks ,specialising in Rotax & KZ shifter classes with great success, proudly representing Australia at the 2007 Rotax World Championships in Dubai finishing in 4th place out of 72 competitors from around the world.
In 2009 Tom was signed as the junior development driver for the BJR V8 Supercar team, placing 6th on his debut year in the 2010 Australian Formula Ford championship. After winning the opening round at the 2011 Clipsal 500 in Adelaide ultimately finished 4th in the 2011 Australian Formula Ford Championship.
In 2013 after 3 years working as an advanced driving instructor with the Audi drive experience & the V8 drive experience programmes he founded Tom Williamson Motorsport, coaching & mentoring kart racers in all aspects of driver tuition, from technique, kart setup, data analysis, feedback, racing lines, presentation, marketing etc.
Tom has established close & enduring relationships with karting & motorsport teams & leaders around Australia & the world that can fast track any competitors future career options.
Tom is fully qualified with a Cert.IV in training & assessment, Cert.III in Children’s Services, First Aid & is COVID19 certified.
BJR | TWM Junior Development Team
Brad Jones Racing Team has partnered with Tom Williamson Motorsport to find & help guide the next generation of motorsport stars.
The BJR – TWM Junior Development Team is a driver development program to identify potential future racing drivers. Selected TWM team members will receive professional and continuous training in all areas of Motorsport and be offered the opportunity to take the next step in their racing career with the support and guidance of BJR and Tom Williamson Motorsport.
With a wealth of Motorsport knowledge, BJR’s owners Brad & Kim Jones know the importance of guiding & supporting our next generation of drivers to ensure they reach their full potential.
“I have known Tom for over 10yrs and have always been impressed with his gift of being able to maximise young drivers talent. We have talked about teaming up over the last few years so I am very proud to announce this initiative with TWM.” Jones stated.
This exciting new development will ensure the next generation is well prepared for a future career in motorsport. Ten TWM team members will be selected by Tom Williamson from around Australia to join the TWM / BJR Junior Development Squad, they will have the opportunity to attend V8 Supercar rounds with the team to witness & understand just some of the challenges it takes to be successful at the highest level.
Participants will have the opportunity to work with Macauley Jones and Tom as mentors at training camps, fitness workshops and have the chance to become the BJR Junior Ambassador at the end of the year. This amazing opportunity could lead to a test drive in one of the BJR Supercars plus the chance to be mentored by BJR to take the next step in their racing career.
Williamson believes this Junior Development Team is essential to the advancement of our rising young stars “I’m really happy to be finally getting this program off the ground.
